June 12 Democracy Day: War is over, Support Tinubu, now – Ohanaeze appeals to Atiku, Peter Obi

On Democracy Day, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization made an appeal to the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party for the 2023 elections in Nigeria.

The organization urged Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi to halt their tribunal cases and instead support President Bola Tinubu. The Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, emphasized that Atiku and Obi should contribute their ideas to support Tinubu.

In the interest of nationalism and patriotism, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, emphasized that Atiku and Obi should contribute their ideas to support Tinubu. Isiguzoro stated that the money being used to pursue their cases at the tribunal should be used to support Tinubu because the war has ended.

Isiguzoro while speaking with Daily Post reporter' said: “The money that Atiku and Peter Obi are using to pursue their cases at the tribunal, we beg the two Nigerian patriots to support Tinubu because the war has ended.

“They should bring ideas to ensure that Nigerians don’t experience severe hardship.

“This is our democracy message to Atiku, Peter Obi, and Nigerians that though they have the constitutional rights to challenge Tinubu at the tribunal up to the Supreme Court, they should withdraw their cases from the tribunal in the spirit of nationalism and patriotism.

“We know it’s a decision that will be hard for them, their lawyers and supporters will not allow them; but in the spirit of patriotism and one Nigeria they should allow, support this progressive president with the ideas that will move the country from consumption to production.”

He however urged the President ; that instead, he should ensure that appointments are made based on merit and the principles of federal character, which will promote national unity and inclusiveness. The Igbos, being a major ethnic group in Nigeria, should be given their fair share of appointments in key positions. This will go a long way in promoting a sense of belonging and unity among all Nigerians.”

“His appointment must reflect the principle of federal character and ensure that the Southeast get strong ministries that will transform the region economically and structurally.”

He charged the president to consider releasing Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

“What we are yearning for is that Tinubu should listen to the appeal of Enugu State governor and release Nnamdi Kanu and end the Monday sit-at-home,” Isiguzoro added.
