Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia was a spectacle in the country and worldwide. The spectacular reception given to the Portuguese was something to behold. Though the English press and other tried to downplay it, there was nothing that can be done to it but to leave it as it is.

The CR7 effect

The signing of CR7 turned the attention of thousands of fans and foes to the Arabian outfit, as evidenced by the fact that when Al Nassr announced the signing of Cristiano, the number of followers on his Instagram account skyrocketed.

Moreover, the striker’s official presentation with his new club was watched around the globe and drew more views than the World Cup final between France and Argentina. What a man!

How many people watched CR7’s presentation?

Journalist Pedro Sepuleda said that Cristiano Ronaldo’s presentation ceremony at Al Nassr reached “3 billion views on 40 channels around the world”.

Why is Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr debut postponed?

Although Manchester United released the Portuguese star, he did not escape a sanction imposed by the English Football Association (FA) and must pay a two-match ban for snatching and smashing an Everton fan’s phone.

According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, article 12.1 of FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players states that Cristiano has to fulfill the punishment he was given in the Premier League, although he has even changed continent.

“Any disciplinary sanction of up to four matches or up to three months which has been imposed on a player by the previous association but which has not yet been (fully) served at the time of transfer shall be enforced by the new association with which the player is registered so that the sanction is enforced at national level,” read the regulations regarding Ronaldo’s ban.
