As the year 2022 passes, Forbes has released its list of highest-paid sportspersons of the year. This year there are only three footballers on the list, and Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain, ex-Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain made the list.
According to Forbes’ list, Messi is the highest-earning sportsperson of the year, conquering competition from BasketBall legend LeBron James.
Messi has snatched the crown with his £108 million pool. He has lucrative deals with Adidas, Budweiser, PepsiCo, and Hard Rock International. Combined, he took home a sizable £45 million in off-field payments.
Ronaldo earned a whopping £96 million in 2022 with sponsorship deals with Nike, Herbalife, and Clear Shampoo.
The Portuguese also has a massive fanfare on Instagram (most-followed person), which has helped him earn £46 million off-field.
LeBron James is on the list with £101 million. Neymar £79 million, Stephen Curry £77 million.

Others are Kevin Durant (£77 million), Roger Federer (£75 million), Canelo Alvarez (£75 million), Tom Brady (£70 million), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (£67 million.
