How Sammie Okposo Died, Family release official statement

November 25 was Black Friday in the Okposo family as the news of the death of famous gospel singer Sammie Okposo was heard. Nollywood Times gathered that he slumped and died, and details regarding the death were sketchy when the news got out.

However, since Friday, November 25, when the news filtered out, fans have been mourning his loss, and many wanted to know the cause of the Wellu Wellu crooner. The singer's name trended on social media as many wanted to confirm the authenticity of the news.

Some hours later, the late singer's family came out and released an official statement confirming his death. According to the statement, the family revealed that Sammie, 51 died in his sleep. 

The statement read: "It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that I announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, Minister of God, Sammie Okposo."

The statement continued: "Sammie slept and went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022. We are consolidated because we know that he is with Jesus singing with angels."

It was further noted that the details around his burial will be announced soon.

Many fans have taken to social media to mourn and express their thoughts about the singer. Several fans looked back at some of the fond memories they shared with the singer. One user wrote: "2022 was really a long year for you sir, you will forever be remembered. RIP Sammie Okposo.'

Another added: "Sammie Okposo's passing is shocking, though. He was only fifty-one years old. A very talented gospel singer in his time. Hope his family finds comfort following this loss. Why is that the life expectancy of men is generally low in this age? It is a bit scary."

"Sammie Okposo's songs will live forever in the minds of men, his songs are globally known. Rest In Peace King," noted another.

For those that don't know, Sammie was a veteran gospel singer and has been part of the industry for a long time. He became known worldwide when he released his song Wellu Wellu in 2000.

The song projected him to fame, and according to All Africa, he started off his career in 1995 when he worked as a producer. Following this, he joined the Nigerian Movie Industry as a Sound Track Producer and pursued a career in music production.

He eventually released his own music and gained popularity afterward. May his soul rest in peace.
