CESJET hails President Buhari for sacking NYSC DG, Fadah

The Centre for Social Justice, Equity And Transparency (CESJET) commended President Muhammadu Buhari, sacking Brig Gen MK Fadah as the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

According to the group, the sacked NYSC boss was unfit to occupy the position. They said that Buhari had acted promptly to save the scheme from further embarrassment.

CESJET addressed the press on Friday, and the group’s executive director, Comrade Isaac Ikpa, declared that the former Director-General had shown a lack of vision and purpose for the scheme and was rightfully shown the exit. He added that the president’s decision was long overdue and that Fadah was unfit from the first day he assumed office.

CESJET said it is on record that the NYSC has been unproductive in the last few months Fadah has been in charge, saying that the former DG turned the scheme into a fiefdom for his cronies.

“It was an era of nepotism and backwardness on the reforms introduced in the scheme by previous leadership. It, therefore, was no surprise that the erstwhile DG engaged in acts that were unbecoming of a senior officer of the Nigerian Army,” CESJET said.

The Centre pointed out that the NYSC under the ex-DG was laced with forgery and lacked the willpower to deliver the expected results to move the scheme forward.

CESJET further accused the former DG of forging his academic qualifications and falsifying his age, which, according to them, was discovered by an investigation by the NYSC board.

Therefore, the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to relieve him of his appointment is a step in the right direction in halting the decline in the NYSC.

Buhari on Thursday sacked Fadah just six months after he was appointed as the Director General of the scheme.

Although the reasons for sacking him are still sketchy, sources said that the former NYSC boss’ removal is not unconnected with the fact that he has exhibited ‘glaring incompetence’ in the six months he has piloted the affairs of NYSC.
