Controversial rapper Kanye West is at it again. Just as we were trying to forget his ban by social media giants – Instagram and Twitter, the rapper has lighted another fire. This time, the fire seemed to be burning towards him and might consume him as he declared that George Floyd died from an overdose.
Kanye even categorically stated that the knee of the former police officer who is currently in jail, Derek Chauvin, didn’t touch Floyd’s neck to murder him. The comments did not go down well with many, especially Floyd’s family. Now that we are analyzing suing Kanye or Ye to stop his misinformation.
While one cannot defame the dead, the family of #GeorgeFloyd is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death.

Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines & diminishes the Floyd family’s fight.
Kanye West vs George Floyd’s family
Kanye West acts as a white supremacist apologist. He was Donald Trump’s ally to gather African-American voters, recently doubled down in antisemitic comments, attended a premiere of a film that attacks the same George Floyd and the Black Lives movement, and said that slavery “was a choice.”
In May 2020, Kanye West commented that Floyd didn’t die after Derek Chauvin put his knee on George Floyd’s neck.
“They hit him with the fentanyl,” West mentioned. “If you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.”
George Floyd’s family “is considering suit for Kanye’s false statements about the manner of his death,” said Lee Merrit, Floyd’s family attorney.
“Claiming Floyd died from fentanyl, not the brutality established criminally and civilly undermines and diminishes the Floyd family’s fight,” Lee mentioned.
Kanye’s comments apply for a defamation charge.
According to Derek Chauvin’s trial, the former police officer brutally murdered George Floyd by putting his knee on Floyd’s neck for almost ten minutes. He will serve a 20-plus years sentence in prison for killing Floyd.
“The defendant held his left knee across Mr. Floyd’s neck, back, and shoulder, and his right knee on Mr. Floyd’s back and arm,” Derek Chauvin’s plea agreement stated.
“As Mr. Floyd lay on the ground, handcuffed and unresisting, the defendant kept his knees on Floyd’s neck and body, even after Mr. Floyd became unresponsive. This offense resulted in bodily injury to, and the death of George Floyd.”
