Vendetta Mission: Sacked security chief hires hoodlums, robs firm, flees

In seeking his pound of flesh for being relieved of his duty after three months, a former chief security officer of a company at Sango-Ota, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, reported hired some hoodlums to rob his former employers.


The former CSO, whose name was not disclosed, was reportedly relieved of his duty three months ago. In trying to seek revenge hired the hoodlums who raided the former firm. After the robbers were arrested, he was reported to have fled to avoid arrest.


The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspects: Umar Haruna, Abbah Yahaya, Muritala Umar, Wale Fadeyi and Segun Olofinmade, were arrested following a tip-off.


Oyeyemi said the suspects were apprehended after a distress call received by police officers at the Sango divisional headquarters around 12.30 midnight.


According to the PPRO, the robbers were about 10 in number and were said to be armed with cutlasses. They forcefully entered the premises of Balita Company and cart away with motor engines.


“Upon the distress call, the DPO, Sango division, SP Saleh Dahiru, mobilised his men and moved into the area.


“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums, who came in a Mitsubishi Canter bus, took to their heels, but they were chased, and five of them were apprehended, while others escaped.


“Preliminary investigation revealed that the robbery incident was masterminded by the former chief security officer of the company, who was relieved of his duty about three months ago. The said former chief security officer is presently on the run,” he added.


Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
