Do not travel to Northern Cyprus, FG warns Nigerians

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has warned Nigerians planning to travel to Northern Cyprus to jettison the idea.

According to our source Channels Television, she was speaking in Abuja on Thursday when she revealed that the Federal Government could do little to resolve the issues in the said territory diplomatically. Adding that Nothern Cyprus is not recognized by the international community except Turkey.

Following the reports that Nigerians were being killed in Nothern Cyprus, the Nigerian government issued the above warning to Nigerians.

Mrs. Abike also enjoined the Nigerians in Diaspora to drop the fear they have regarding the country in terms of insecurity and proceed to invest in it.

Though she admitted that the insecurity in the country is a challenge but said that the situation is only temporary, she added that the Federal Government is currently taking strong security measures to give the problem a permanent fix.

According to her, the commission recorded over $20 billion in diaspora remittances for 2021.
