Nigerian boxer Benson Adeyinka defeated Ghanian boy Abubakari Quartey to book a place in the quarter-final. The over 71kg-75kg men’s boxing event took place on Sunday, as reported by The PUNCH.

Nigeria’s Benson took all three points to two to reach the last eight in the middleweight round of 16 contests.

Moving to the quarter-finals, Benson is now set to confront Sam Hickey of Scotland or Kyghan Mortley of Saint Lucia to progress.

Team Nigeria now has two fighters keeping the country’s hopes alive in the boxing contest. Benson and Abdul-Afeez Osoba are flying the country’s flag high in the event.

Recall that on Saturday, Abdul-Afeez Osoba knocked down his opponent, Carl Hield, in the first round of their bout to advance into the round of 16.

Now Osoba is set to face Garan Croft of Wales for a place in the quarter-finals.
