Bayanni: How MAVIN CEO Don Jazzy discovered the new kid sensation for the record label

The Nigerian music fans were treated to a pleasant surprise on Tuesday by MAVIN CEO Don Jazzy when he unveiled the new talented artist, Bayanni, to join the record label.

Abimbola Oladokun (Bayanni) is an undergraduate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and is 25 years old. By this signing, Bayanni has joined the league of Marvin’s young artists, including Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, Rema, Ayra Starr, Magixx & Boy Spyce.

This is not the first time Don Jazzy is discovering a young artist; he is known for discovering and recruiting young music talents, giving them all it takes to succeed.

Although Don Jazzy did not reveal the new sensation to people, he did something remarkable and creative when he unveiled him. He employed comedians Sabinus and Brainjotter to feature in the human generative science-themed experiment video.

Shortly after his unveiling, Don Jazzy also announced the release of Bayanni’s EP “Bayanni.” Baba K (Don Jazzy) is the executive producer of the EP. The four tracks are titled ‘Family,’ ‘Body,’ ‘Ta Ta Ta,’ and ‘Kala.’

About the kid sensation, Bayanni

The young artist has been singing for a time but was discovered through social media.

Bayanni, formerly goes by the stage name Zhenoboy, made covers of different songs and tagged the original owners of the music as well as other influencers in the country who could make it viral.

In the unveiling video, Don Jazzy played the Lead Scientist (Prof) role, working on creating a superhuman in his laboratory. The illustrative video showed Don Jazzy transforming Zhenoboy into Bayanni.

In April 2021, Bayanni recorded and released a cover of Ckay’s Felony. On 14 October, he released the cover of ‘Jowo’ by Davido; on 19 October, he released the cover of Peru by Fireboy DML.

Bayanni’s EP is number 3 on the Apple Top Album chart. His single ‘Body’ is the most listened to song on the music streaming platform and has also gotten a music video to accompany it.

Twitter already verified the new artist’s account, and his Instagram account has surged. He now boasts 186 million Instagram followers. Don Jazzy also hinted that Bayanni would feature in the Mavin all-star anniversary album later in the year.
