During a meeting of the PDP at Oloba Ward, Atapara Area, Ede, Osun State, one person (known as called Kuranga) was killed when a fight broke out.

Reports have it that the cause of the disagreement was directly linked to money. It was further said that gunshots were heard and led to the death of Kuranga.

Further details revealed that one of those linked to the misunderstanding brought police officers to make an arrest when the situation became rowdy.

“It was in the process of effecting arrest that Kuranga was shot. But I can’t immediately say who shot him. The incident happened on Friday,” a source in Atapara axis of Ede told our source, Sunday PUNCH.

Osun Command spokesperson of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Olabisi Atanda confirmed the death and the shooting incident at the meeting.

She said, “There was a meeting of the PDP where misunderstanding ensued over money released for the last governorship election.

“There was altercation among the people at the meeting and one of those in attendance brought police into the meeting to make arrest.

“It was at that time that one person called Kuranga was hit by bullet. I can’t confirm if he died or not. The incident led to stampede in a market around the area as people ran in different directions. But peace has returned.”

However, the police’s reaction to the incident is yet to be gotten, and there has not been any response from the Osun State command yet.

There have been accusations as Oladele Oluwabamiji, the PDP’s Director of Media and Strategy in Osun, accused the leadership of the APC in the state of bringing in hoodlums to the PDP meeting.
