After conquering all the three teams in Group C, the Falconets progressed to the quarter-finals with 100 percent records. However, they need to advance to the next level, that is, the semi-finals, and there is only one team standing between them, and that dream is the Netherlands.
According to Falconets head coach Chris Danjuma, the team is ready to slug it out with the Netherlands, adding that it would be a tough duel and hopeful that the team would prevail.
The quarter-final match is slated for Sunday night against the Dutch under 20 side at the Estadio Alajuela Morera Soto, and the kick-off is at 11.30 pm.
Recall that the Danjuma girls topped Group C by winning all group games against France, Korea Republic, and Canada.
On the other hand, the Dutch came out of Group D second, proving their class in tough battles against the United States of America and Ghana.
Danjuma, ahead of the match, told nff.com, “The Dutch are a super-strong squad to have survived that group where the Americans were sent packing. In any event, any team in the quarter-finals must be a super-strong squad. We will not under-rate them, just as we did not under-rate any of France, Korea Republic, and Canada.
“As I said at the beginning of the tournament, we are taking it one match at a time. Our overall plan for each of the games in the group phase worked well.
“And I believe that our overall plan for the match against The Netherlands will work as well.”
