Kano to spend N33m on student allowance studying in France

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has approved the sum of N33 million as upkeep allowances for the State’s post-graduate students currently studying in France.

This was revealed on Sunday in a statement by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure. He explained that the fund happens to be part of the counter-part funding under the France–Kano State Government Scholarship Scheme.

The statement:

It would be recalled that in line with the government’s numerous strive for improving the quality and standard of Higher Education in the State, the governor on behalf of the State had signed a bilateral agreement, with the Government of France to train scholars from Kano in French Universities.

These scholars are in reputable and world-class universities, with special interests in Science and Technology.

The statement revealed that to participate in the scheme the state drew hundreds of scholars from institutions of higher learning in the state who had completed and acquired Master’s and Ph.D. degrees while others are in their final laps.
