Gunmen reportedly attacked a construction company in Owo, Ondo State.

Sporadic gunshots were reportedly heard at the location of the Crarenburg construction company, Owo, on Wednesday night.

In a tweet, the police confirmed that some people were injured during the attack.

“Tonight, there was a shooting incident at Craneburg Construction Company, Owo.

“Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to hospital and they are in stable condition.”

Tubsun Aladeselu, the company's Chief Security Officer, confirmed to our source, Channels TV, that two workers caught in the gunfire were being treated at the nearby hospital.

He said the gunmen were two in number and came in a bus; getting to the construction site, they began shooting sporadically. The attackers were said to also use explosive devices.

The men arrived at the site around 9 pm as it was raining and most of the workers were indoors.

Recall that about two months ago, an expatriate engineer of the same company was abducted and his guard soldier killed by the abductors at a site in Owo.

Owo Church attack

Armed men killed several church worshipers in Owo last month. The men entered St. Francis's Catholic Church in the town of Owo. They shot at the congregation during the service marking the holiday of Pentecost.

The FG blamed the terrorist group Iswap for the Owo Church attack, but the Governor of State Ondo Rotimi Akeredolu said such a conclusion was rushed.

“But whatever it is, we stand by the position that it’s a trilogy that is operating in our forests and causing havoc. We just have Fulani herdsmen right in front, followed by these bandits, and again ISWAP; so, the three of them work together and they work separately,” the Governor said while speaking with our source earlier this month.

Ondo State has recently witnessed significant tension between farmers and herders.
