Android 12: All You Need To Know

Google's Android platform presently happens to be the most-used mobile OS in the world. Today, the figure stands at about 3 billion active Android phones, representing over 38 percent (one-third) of the world's population. Android origin dates back to the early-2000s. It exists in some form or the other. However, in 2007, it became popular with the release of the first-ever Android phone. And from 2007, Android grew aggressively to what it is today.

To make Android one of the best and most useful OS ever made, Google did its best to update and refine it, giving birth to different versions. Because of this move, Android is more open and customizable compared to Apple's iOS. Android comes with fewer restrictions like side-loading apps. Since Android is Linus based, you can root it easily.

Rooting is the act of accessing the kernel of your phone and making system-wide changes and customizations. The latest version of Android is the Android 12. Google's Pixel phones and Samsung phones are currently running on it. Other phones are rolling out the new too. Examples include Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, RealMe, and VIVO.

Material You and other new design features.

The Material You blends multiple elements into one cohesive design across the OS. The following feature is top changes in the Android 12

Color Extraction

What this feature does is that it natively extracts the colors from the current wallpaper on the phone and utilizes them to theme the phone's OS. Android 12 draws the colors from a chosen wallpaper and uses them throughout the OS, i.e., Settings, Quick Settings tiles, etc.

One good thing about the OS is that you can override the color extraction; hence you can select any color you wish.

Widget Emphasis

Android 12 emphasizes widgets much more than Android 11. The widget selector has undergone a complete overhaul for smooth and easy scrolling and viewing. The widgets also feature a few new APIs for improved performance.

Quick Settings Tiles

On the Quick Settings, the smaller toggles have been replaced with larger and rounded rectangle buttons. The camera and microphone access Google Pay, alerts and smart home stuff now have new tiles. The internet tile opens a prompt now and houses both mobile and Wi-Fi data information.

Settings

The Settings menu has now been redesigned and enhanced with new features. The top settings are now easier to reach, especially on tall phones, because the interface features large headers. Safety & Emergency is now part of the settings but was not there before.

Notifications and other changes

Android 12 comes with a series of changes that improve user experience. The animations have been improved to make things seamless. There is a new always-on display that changes when there are notifications and does that when there is none. The notifications witnessed few notifications. Android 12 is more fluid, alive and responsive due to the enhancements.

Still, on animation, the charging notification displays a nice animation when the phone is plugged into the mains.

To be continued....
