A former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Bright Omokhodion, former Deputy Speaker, Festus Ebea, former state chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, Mr. Tony Omoaghe, on Thursday joined Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Others were Mrs. Tawa Idubor, Chief Blessing Agbomhere, Etinosa Ogbeiwi, Emmanuel Momoh and several others.

They had announced their mass resignation from the People’s Democratic Party through a voice vote after motion was moved and seconded by Hon Festus Ebea (Edo Central) Emmanuel Momoh (Edo North) and Tawa Idubor (Edo South).

Giving reasons for leaving the PDP, Hon Omokhodion said they had an intense and exhaustive deliberation on the political wrangling and demise of internal democracy in the Edo state chapter of PDP as well as consulted widely across the three senatorial districts of the state.........READ MORE>>>

Kano Govt reacts to court ruling sacking four new emirs

The Kano State Government has reacted to Thursday’s court ruling dissolving the four new first-class emirates created by the state government and sacking the emirs appointed to head them.

The state’s information commissioner, Muhammad Garba, said: “despite the ruling, the government still recognizes them as First Class Emirs and will continue dealing with them as such.”

PREMIUM TIMES reported how the Kano high court nullified the creation of four new first-class emirates by the state government.

Bayelsa/Kogi guber: Babangida tells INEC to cancel elections

A former governor of Niger, Dr Babangida Aliyu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel Saturday’s governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states.

Aliyu made the call in a press statement on Thursday in Minna by Mr Bala Bitrus, his media officer.

Pastor slumps, dies shortly after defecting to APC in Edo

A cleric identified as Pastor Aimola John has slumped and died shortly after joining Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Aimola was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital he was rushed to.

He had left the APC in 2015 alongside Pastor Ize-Iyamu and was among former PDP members that were returning home to the APC at the residence of Ize-Iyamu where he slumped..........READ MORE>>>
