Senator Dino Melaye |
The election violence that erupted in the governorship and senatorial elections in Kogi state has claimed the life of a nephew to Senator Dino Melaye, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the re-run for the Senatorial seat.
Dino Melaye however, has confirmed the death of Olorunjuwon early on Sunday, November 17, stating that the deceased paid the ultimate price for the liberation of the Kogi people.
"My nephew Olorunjuwon who was shot at my pooling unit yesterday died this morning. My brother your death is a Supreme sacrifice in the struggle for the liberation of our people. Rest in peace aburo... So sad," Melaye mourned.

The Senator had earlier accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of forcing polling officers of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to sign new results while also raising an alarm that figures were being altered at the local government collation centres in favour of the party.
Melaye accused Yahaya Bello, the governor of the state, of compromising electoral officers in the polls.
Rigging going on at INEC in Kabba now. Speaker Kola, Taofik and commissioner of Agric all inside INEC. Rejected Egbeda and Oke ofin results entered. Oke Koko ward clearly won with over 1000 difference in favour of Pdp cancelled. Odolu too cancelled. What a compromise.— Senator Dino Melaye. (SDM) (@dino_melaye) November 17, 2019
