APC congratulates Gov Udom Emmanuel over Appeal Court victory, As Central Bank gets new Governor

The All Progressives Congress (APC), stalwarts and members all from different parts of Akwa Ibom state, have written to congratulate His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, on his victory at the Governorship Election Petitions and Appeal Tribunal.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Uyo, the APC faithful described the outcome of the election litigation as a confirmation of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s victory.

They stated that it is “as an act of God demonstrated through the people of Akwa Ibom State who voted him during the March 9, 2019, general election and went ahead to defend the votes through various witnesses who testified in His favour at the tribunal”

 Central Bank get new governor

The Mongolian parliament on Friday appointed Byadran Lkhagvasuren as the new governor of the country's  central bank, the Bank of Mongolia.

Lkhagvasuren replaced Nadmid Bayartsaikhan, who presented his resignation letter on Nov. 15, after Mongolia was added to the Financial Action Task Force’s “grey list,” NAN reports.

It was added to the list for failing to meet standards related to combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Prior to his appointment, Lkhagvasuren served as vice chairman of the Bank of Mongolia.

Husband of Mrs Salome Abuh, the Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ochadamu, Ofu LGA of Kogi State, who was allegedly killed and set ablaze in her home by suspected political thugs, Elder Simeon Abuh, has called for justice in the case.

The family, in a statement signed by the bereaved husband, noted that the brutal murder of Mrs Salome Abuh and the destruction of properties were premeditated.

The culprits, they said, were known to members of the community.

The statement read: “On Saturday, 16th of November 2019, at the Ochadamu Primary School Polling Unit, one, Someone in the company of other boys told me that he was going to deal with my younger brother, Gowon Abuh, who is a strong supporter of the PDP. Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Friday described the 9th senate under the leadership of Ahmed Lawan as a ‘rubber stamp.”

He said this while frowning at the comment by the Senate President that any request from President Muhammadu Buhari was good for Nigeria.


Lawan had in a statement said that the senate would always honour Buhari’s requests.
