Following the leadership face-off at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) board, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has commenced a nationwide protest today.
The nationwide protest, which kicked off 9 am on Monday, May 13 at the Labour house in the Nigerian capital, Abuja with members of affiliated unions in attendance, Premium Times reports.
According to the report, the union is protesting over the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige’s unwillingness to inaugurate the NSITF board.
Comrade Ayuba Wabba, the national president of NLC, while speaking at the protest, said they are protesting the attack on Nigerian workers during a procession to Ngige’s private residence in Asokoro, Abuja.
“Members of International Labour Congress in Geneva will be protesting against Ngige on June 18,” he said.READ ALSO: NLC On Rampage, Puts Minister Ngige's Residence Under Siege
President Muhammadu Buhari , had earlier been called upon by NLC, to probe Ngige over his involvement in the affairs of the NSITF.

On Wednesday, last week, NLC members had staged a protest on the street where Ngige’s house is located, using two petrol tankers to barricade his residence.
