Face Your APGA – APC Knocks Obiano For ‘requesting appointments’ From Buhari

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has chided Willie Obiano, the Anambra State governor, over a recent request made to President Muhammadu Buhari, allegedly asking that the state’s share of federal appointments be handed to him.

The party in a statement, asked Obiano to face his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and also strive to develop the state, rather than asking to reap the gains of the sweat of its members who worked tirelessly for the re-election of President Buhari.

It could be recalled that Obiano had days ago visited President Buhari, and had stated that he had discussed with the president to consider his state, Anambra, when making federal appointments as he moves to assume office for a second term.

But Mr Okelo Madukaife, the publicity secretary of APC in Anambra, in a press release, stated that there were many avenues to create jobs in Anambra if the governor wanted jobs for his people, instead of rushing to Abuja for federal appointments from the president, Daily Post reports.

“We invite Willie Obiano to refocus on how to get the 21 Local Governments in Anambra State working and running under democratic governments, in response to the true wishes of Ndi Anambra.

“When these functional democratic governments are in place, alongside their legislature populated by elected councilors, the third tier will easily manage the affairs of town unions and traditional leaders under their domain, while the state government returns to its superintendence role.

“It is our considered view that jobs can be generated by the adoption of this harmonized model envisaged and provided for in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, than kitchen- meetings in Abuja which duplicates the duties under due discharge by the APC Anambra and South East caucuses.”

The party appreciated what it called ‘Obiano’s media support’ for it during 2019 presidential election, but stated that it is mindful that the March 9, 2019, House of Assembly elections in Anambra State were mindlessly rigged in favour of APGA as against the interest of APC by agents of the governor.

Madukaife called on Obiano to rather join the party instead of running to Abuja to curry favour from the president, saying, “We would, however, welcome Gov. Obiano off the sidelines and into APC any day, if that is his craving.

“We remind Gov. Obiano that our great party in Anambra State appreciate appointments from Abuja particularly for loyal APC members who have invested their sweat, courage of conviction, perseverance and hard work.”
