Buhari Declares Asset For 2nd Term, Claims He Has No New Houses, Bank Accounts, Shares

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday submitted his assets declaration form for his second term, to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity,  confirming this, said the President had no new property beyond the assets he declared in 2015 when he began his first term.

“The duly completed forms were submitted to the chairman of the CCB, Professor Mohammed Isa, on behalf of the President by Sarki Abba, Senior Special Assistant, Household and Domestic Affairs,” Shehu said.

Speaking about the content of the form filled by the president Shehu said, “The forms, as signed by the President and sworn to before a Judge of Abuja High Court, showed no significant changes in assets as declared in 2015 by him, Ripples Nigeria reports.

“There are no new houses, no new bank accounts at home and abroad and there are no new shares acquired.

“The chairman of the CCB commended the President for leading by example by declaring his assets in accordance with the law.”

The CCB had earlier fixed May 28 as deadline for public officers to make their end of tenure declaration as stipulated by constitution, which states that asset declaration is mandatory to precede Buhari’s second term oath-taking today (Wednesday).
