Confusion prevailed in Arigidi, Akoko Northwest local government area of Ondo state Friday following the killing of an 80-year old woman by suspected ritualists.
The mother of five, Mrs. Kojusola Mogaji had her two breast clinically removed after smashing her head with dangerous weapon in IMO compound, Arigidi-Akoko.
The deceased who was an active member of Anglican Church was killed in the night when the other co-occupants of the house had travelled.
The chewing stick of the old woman was beside her remains.
It was learnt that neighbours woke up to see her lifeless body in the pool of blood which later attracted many sympathisers.
One of the deceased’s daughters who is a local government official, Mrs Kehinde Adewumi wept profusely on the callous manner her mother was killed.
She described the killing as gruesome, urging security agents to do thorough investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding her death.
A junior brother to the deceased Vincent Sunday, a retired top civil servant described her late sister as God-fearing and peaceful, stressing that she would be sorely missed by the entire family.
The Divisional Police Officer for Okeagbe-Akoko, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ibitayo Adetaranmi was on ground to convey the corpse to the Mortuary at Ikare Akoko State Specialist Hospital.
The DPO said police would get to the route of the matter.
In the past few months, about six women had been killed in Akoko area by suspected ritualists in similar circumstance of removing their breasts.
