The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has assured that academic activities in the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia will formally take off in May.
Amosun, who gave the assurance after inspecting the institution’s site on Monday, said: “All arrangements have been made to have the institution’s first matriculation ceremony.”
He disclosed that no fewer than 3,000 applicants will be admitted as pioneer students of the institution, following the completion of all admission procedures.

In the company of his cabinet members and permanent secretaries, the governor at the site said the polytechnic is one of the 20 legacy projects that President Muhammadu Buhari will commission before hand over of his government in the state.

Amosun noted that the commencement of activities in the institution will bring development to the area while urging the people of the community to be accommodating to students and staff.
Highlighting some of the facilities already on the ground, Amosun said: “We already have lecture theatres that can take 2,500 students at a go, hostel facility, staff quarters and rectors residence among others, hence the polytechnic is more than ready for the take-off.”
He also revealed that “as soon as Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia commences operation, Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology will also come on stream,” adding that the master plan for the take-off of the university is already in place.
