CiTi calls women to apply for the Top Tech Tools Business Programme

CiTi (the Cape Innovation & Technology Initiative), has partnered with the City of Cape Town to launch its fully-funded Top Tech Tools for Women in Business programme. Applications close on Friday 5 April.

Kicking off in April, the ten-week programme will support 25 women to future-proof their business for the digital economy. In the last four years, the programme has involved more than 200 entrepreneurs in Woodstock and Khayelitsha.

Aside from limited resources, many SMEs often don’t have the capacity to upskill their teams. This is especially worrying for businesses that are solely operated by its founders including those who lack the industry ‘know how’ to take their professional journeys to the next level.

The Women in Business programme gives qualifying women the chance to flourish in relevant networks, and receive real-time coaching on business basics and more complicated solutions.

Since the start of the programme’s outreach in 2015, 48% of graduates have seen productive changes in their companies that involve an increase in staff, sales, and social media following, improved internal communication and networking, knowledge gained and more effective spending.

In addition to exposure to strategic business structure strategies, students receive support to strengthen their confidence and resilience to help them deal with the challenges that arise along the way. “Having a positive state of mind, well-being and believing in your own abilities are critical in business success”, says Marietjie Engelbrecht, CiTis head of communication. “Participants are exposed to a broader perspective – outside of the business element – to also appreciate and accept themselves. A strong support system is elemental in an efficient, sustainable business structure and CiTis programme leaders understand this.”

Some of the topics the programme will address include Financial Management Systems, Cloud Computing, and Social Media Marketing. On graduating, the women will become members of CiTis alumni for ongoing access to relevant content, events and further support.

Applications are open to female founders and CEOs between the age of 25 – 50, who have a registered business for at least a year. Applicants must also be based in the Western Cape, have at least one staff member employed by their business and be available to attend weekly workshops every Thursday morning for the duration of the programme (April – June).

Other application criteria include supplying the following:

• Tax clearance

• CIPC Company registration

• Certified copy – Director’s ID

• BBBEE Affidavit

• Company Profile
