Emir of Kano portrait destroyed by Angry supporters of APC (Photos)

Angry supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), destroyed the portrait of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, at the Kano government house yesterday after accusing him of supporting the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the supplementary election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had on Sunday night, announced the incumbent governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as the winner of the governorship election in Kano State, thereby returning him for a second term in office.

The supporters of governor Ganduje used ladders to climb the coronation hall in the government house to remove the portrait/picture of the monarch to show their displeasure with him.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says its candidate, Abba K. Yusuf, is the rightful winner of the Kano state governorship election, stating that any declaration that does not reflect such cannot stand.

This is according to a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan.

The opposition party said that its candidate Abba Yusuf, won the Kano state governorship election since March 9, 2019, having fulfilled the constitutional requirement of securing the highest number of votes and the statutory 25% in two-thirds of the state.
