Google Developer Conference |
Kicking off on the 7th of May, Google’s next I/O developer conference will be taking place at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. The 2018 conference kicked off on the 8th of May.
Every year, Google announces the date of this event by means of a puzzle. This year they tweeted out a 12-line block of text accompanied by a URL leading to a video that rehashed the text with pictures. It was almost instantly solved by a Twitter user named Till Kottmann, giving us a time and place for the event.
The conference is famous for showcasing Google’s latest developments in terms of its products and services. Last year we heard about Google Assistant, Android, Google Maps and AR. Google Assistant, or the Duplex AI project, wowed everyone with its ability to make appointments over the phone in a super realistic voice, Android got an overhaul, Google Maps gave us a better sense of direction, and multiplayer AR became a thing.
This year the event will run from May 7 to May 9 and we’re sure to see a lot more change and innovation in the online space, as well as general updates on things like Google Lens and Android. Duplex will likely return with improvements to show. Either way, AI is the name of the game and Google is gearing up to be one of the biggest players.
