EPL: Ed Woodward reveals five candidates likely to become Man United’s next permanent manager

Ed Woodward, Manchester United executive vice-chairman,  has shortlisted five candidates to become the club’s next permanent manager.

Woodward sacked former United manager, Jose Mourinho last month and replaced the Portuguese gaffer with former Red Devils player, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer, who took over from Mourinho, was appointed as a caretaker manager to lead the club till the end of this current season.

However, according to The Sun, Woodward identified Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino as his first choice to become the next United manager.

The report claimed that Frenchmen, Zinedine Zidane and Laurent Blanc are also both on the list.

The report also claimed that Solskjaer, who has impressed since taking over at United, is under consideration for the role if he continues the season with the same momentum which has seen him win his first three matches in charge, while the fifth name on the list is Salzburg manager, Marco Rose.

Manchester United will tackle Newcastle on Wednesday in the Premier League fixture.
