We pray for peaceful polls, says ROF leader

The leader of ‘The Reformed Ogboni Fraternity (ROF), Olori Francis Meshioye, has urged Nigerians to exercise their right to vote and support the winner of next year’s general elections.

Speaking at the 2018 Annual General Council Meeting of Oluwo/Lisa Apena/Adele Apena held in Lagos, he said though the Reform Ogboni Fraternity is not a political organization and members do not discuss politics in their meetings, “we wish Nigeria a peaceful election.

Meahioye said: “We wish Nigerians to be peaceful, exercise their right and pray so that we can have a smooth election so that the country can grow.”

“We call on all Nigerians to give their absolute support to whoever emerges the leader of this country because it is God that chooses a leader, and we will do all we can to ensure that the policy of whoever comes into government is well implemented. And one of the rules of ROF is to obey the rule and law of the nations, wherever we are,” said the Olori Oluwo.

Meshioye said there is light at the end of the tunnel for Nigerians adding: “If we are prayerful, obedience and be more industrious.

“We need to be prayerful, I mean pray for Nigeria and I am also seizing this opportunity to call on people to be industrious because industry will grow to the economy. And finally, It is very important for Nigerians to be full of integrity, If you are of good integrity definitely things will be fine.”

According to him, the group was founded on 18th December 1914, and the ROF Annual General Council Meeting of Oluwo/Lisa Apena/Adele Apena usually held every 12 months with the aims of accounting the activities that took place over the year to its members.

“Some of our plans for next year is basically to see how we can improve our performance in maintaining a good relationship with one another and the populace at large.”

The event was well-attended by high chiefs of the fraternity including the Olori Apena, Otunba E. Akin George, Otunba S. M. Idowu Sholotan, Otunba O. A. Osifuwa, Otunba Barr. S. Ojeriakhi, Alakoso P. O. Akosa and amongst others.
