What Ambode Said About Tinubu And Jim Ovia At Jim Ovia’s Book Launch

Mr. Akinwunmi Amnode, the Lagos State Governor was said to have caused a bit of drama on Monday, while acknowledging Bola Tinubu, his godfather, and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during the launch of ‘Africa Rise and Shine’, a book by Jim Ovia, chairman, Zenith Bank. 

The event which was held at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Lagos, the MC invited Ambode to speak immediately after Bola Tinubu.

Ambode mounted the podium, acknowledged the dignitaries and stated that he was not prepared to give a speech.

“Actually, I didn’t prepare to come and say anything here… And who am I to speak after the Jagaban has spoken?” Ambode asked.

That remark from the Governor made the guest to broke out in laughter, “But obviously, the truth is, there is no person that has actually gone through the profession of accountancy that would not have had anything to do with Uncle Jim, and that is the truth”, he added.

The occassion was graced by dignitaries among whom were; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Governors of Delta, Borno and Taraba states.

Other dignitaries at the occasion include Nigeria's foremost chartered accountant, Akintola Willams; CEO Channels Media Group, Mr John Momoh; Chairman of Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa, Tony Elumelu; billionaire businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija; Nigeria’s former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Christopher Kolade; political economist, Pat Utomi, among others.
