Nigerians React As Presidency ‘Defends’ N29m Bribe Corruption Allegation Against Buhari’s CoS, Abba Kyari

Nigerians have started to pour out there reactions to a statement by the Presidency, which discredited the allegation that President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, allegedly collected a N29 million bribe before awarding a contract.

The presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, in a statement Saturday described the allegations against Kyari as fictitious, attributing the source to some politicians who were trying to taint the image of President Buhari-led administration.

According to Garba, “Checking the appropriation for 2016 and 2017, that request is not even there. How could Abba Kyari have asked for money to award a contract that did not exist anywhere at all?

“In addition to that, the amount allegedly given in bribe was also suspicious, as the office of the presidential aide had been known in the past to receive imprest of 200 million naira and above every month, with no one expected to give account.

“It was only since Abba Kyari occupied that position that things changed.”

Some Nigerians on the social media platforms however strongly frowned at the statement credited to Shehu, asking the federal government to leave the case to the EFCC to investigate.
