Third-Mainland Bridge |
The Third-Mainland Bridge, Lagos, would be closed this week for four days, starting from the midnight of 23rd of August to midnight of 26th August 2018, for investigative maintenance test.
Mr. Ade Akinsanya, Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, in a statement released on Sunday, disclosed that the state government has concluded all plans to shut down the 3rd Mainland Bridge for an investigative maintenance test.
The Commissioner, explained that the decision was taken after the state government’s due consultation with the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.
READ ALSO: Lagos Government To Transform Oworonshoki WaterfrontAkinsanya however added that the four-day closure, will enable contractors assess the true state of the bridge, after which works would commence by the end of the year or early 2019.
“The 3rd Mainland Bridge which was opened about 30 years ago by the then military government has had haphazard maintenance and repairs in the past which the present Federal Government is committed to correct by carrying out proper and continuous maintenance and repairs on it,” Akinsanya disclosed.
