The Rivers State, Port Harcourt Constituency 3 House of Assembly bye-election held in the city of Port Harcourt has finally been announced as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate came out with a victory against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Hon. Dickens Worlu was declared winner by the INEC returning officer with a total votes of 1,633 to defeat Mr. Chinaka Mmerukini who polled 449 votes.
However, the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vehemently rejected the result and called for cancellation alleging of the poll, because it lacks transparency.
It could be recalled that there was serious reports across media platforms that the election was marred by violence and ballot smashing.In a swift response from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC , it gave a statement today, via a press release where it disclosed the suspension of the PHALGA Constituency 3 Elections that took place yesterday over the widespread use of violence and thugs.

In a statement signed by Obo Effanga, the resident electoral commissioner obtained by PoliticsNGR, the commission said, “the hoodlums stormed the various polling units and registration areas disrupting the voting activities, destroying and carting away electoral materials, including smart card readers and ballot boxes.
