Sokoto Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has confiscated a total of 68 cartons of Tramadol and 120 kilograms of cannabis valued at about N21 million.
According to the Vanguard report, the Command also intercepted six cartons of expired cigarettes, from smugglers of the product.
Mr. Nasiru Ahmed, the Area Comptroller, in a statement while handing over the confiscated items to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Food and Drugs Administration Commission (NAFDAC), said that the Tramadol was abandoned in a house within the Sokoto metropolis and that it was worth N20 million.
The Customs boss further stated that the cannabis which is valued at about N1.1 million was impounded at Kamba border hidden in bales of second-hand clothes.The Area Comptroller also stated that the Indian hemp was highly concentrated and was brought into the country from the Republic of Benin.
