Whereabouts Of Senate President, Ekweremadu Unknown, As NASS Is Thrown Into Confussion

Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu

Early this morning, there had been media reports, that heavily armed security operatives besieged the residences of both the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

It is even said that the whereabouts of Saraki is presently unknown.

At midnight yesterday, it could be recalled that the Inspector General of Police invited Saraki to report to the Force Headquarters for questioning over alleged murder allegation that happened in Offa Bank Robbery, Kwara, the home state of the Senate President.

It is also reported that the residences of the two key principal officers of the Senate are under siege, the hallowed chamber is unlikely to hold plenary today.

According to the Daily Post, some political pundits attribute the whole development as a political scheming by the presidency to forestall the grand plan by the lawmakers who are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, from defecting en masse to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, today.

Meanwhile, there is uneasy calm in the National Assembly as many of the lawmakers are seen in groups meeting to find a way out of the looming political impasse.
