The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria(ISIS) is said to have threatened to attack commercial flights.
According to Al-Abd al-Faqir Media, an ISIS media support outlet, on the 26th of April, 2018 said that ISIS is set to bring "bloodshed to the skies" by attacking commercial flights.
The media information was disseminated in English, French and Arabic via Telegram and major online platforms and was accompanied with the image of a white man, with clean shave and dark hair sitting on the aisle seat of a plane with knife in his hand.

Looking at the antecedents of these groups, the white man with a knife signifies that the set attacks is going to be carried out with a knife.
It could be recalled that the 9/11 attack in the United States in 2001, was carried out with knives and also the death of all 224 passengers aboard a Russian Metrojet flight 9268, which exploded shortly after take-off from Egypt's Sinai Peninsula in October, 2015, saw ISIS claim responsibility.
Information at our disposal as contained in the statement by ISIS spokesman, Abu Hassan Al-Muhajir, on the 22nd of April, 2018 outlined the next stage in the global jihad, which criticised "apostate governments" in the Middle East countries which includes; Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Iran, and Palestine and the Taliban in Afghanistan, and re-emphasised that holy war was the "only way forward".
However according to Jihadwatch, the only knives the Transportation Security Administration(TSA) allows in carry-on bags are plastic or round-bladed butter knives. All other knives must be in checked baggage.
It is therefore pertinent for all and sundry to be security conscious while boarding or in a flight already.
