Imo State APC Ward Congress Result Has Been Cancelled By Court

The National Chairman of APC And National Convention Committee has been restrained by the Federal High Court, Owerri from accepting any Non Existent Ward Congress result from Imo!

The court passed this judgement after a petition from the Imo State Governor and others came to it that the Ward Congress in Imo State did not hold, and therefore no result whatsoever.

It could be recalled that there were series of media reports after the Imo State Ward Congress, that the Governor, Rochas Okorocha ran to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in helping to cancel the Ward Congress in the State.

In a related development, it could also be recalled that the Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha lost the second leg of the battle to get the national leadership of his ruling All Progressives Congress APC to declare that there were no ward congresses in the state as the Appeal Committee constituted to determine petitions arising from the conduct of the exercise has affirmed that the congresses were conducted and officials duly elected.

The report also quoted the committee as saying that the governor lacked the locus standi to file any petition asking for a cancellation of the exercise because “the persons who would have the right to petition over the conduct of the ward congress elections are those qualified to contest the congress having purchased the forms.” In its report dated May 10 and addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the Sen. Abubakar Tutare-led appeal committee held that “the petitions were written by unqualified persons and therefore would  be construed as lacking the locus standi/basis to bring in any petitions.”

But in a twist of event, a judgement has been passed by a court which has restrained the APC NEC from recognising the result from the Imo State Ward Congress. Further details shall be communicated to our readers....
