Zambian Authorities Deports Zodwa Wabantu, The South African Pantless Dancer
Zambia Government on Saturday 10th of March, 2018 has deported Zodwa Wabantu, the controversial female pant-less South African dancer, who is popularly known for dancing without underwear had been refused to dance pant-less in Zambia. The authorities stated that the action was taken on the grounds that her performance would “undermine national values”.
“Zodwa has been deported,” her Zambian promoter Lucky Munakampe revealed to Reuters. Munakampe said she had flown out at 0520 GMT on a South African Airways flight.
Zodwa Wabantu had been slated to perform on Saturday in Lusaka at the launch of a music album organized by a local entertainment company, Sunset Sound Production.
Earlier in the week, the promoters of the show had disclosed that Zambia’s National Arts Council had rejected their application to feature the pant-less dancer, Zodwa Wabantu.
“The Council stated that... Zodwa’s performances were not in the public interest and undermined our national values,” the statement said.
