NBC Certifies Anambra Broadcasting Service Digital Studios Awka For Digital Switch Over



The digitization of television stations by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission(NBC) is a task that must be done so that Nigeria will join other Nations of the world and leave analog transmissions. In the digitization drive, the NBC has certified Anambra Broadcasting Service fit to switch over.

The Anambra Broadcasting Service ABS digital studios has been certified as one of the digital broadcast stations to be switched over in the next phase of the on going digital switch over in the country.

The Director General National Broadcasting Commission Mallam Ishiaku Madibo announced this after his tour of the multi million naira, world class digital studios of the Anambra Broadcasting Service at its corporate headquarter in Awka .

The National Broadcasting Commission is the body incharge of regulation of radio and television stations in the country.

Speaking after his tour of the facility, the Director General NBC Mallam Ishiaku Madibo who said he and his entourage were in Anambra to see the ABS studios to rate the quality of the facility and it's possible switch over.

He expressed satisfaction with what he met on ground stating that it is what broadcasting in Nigeria should be.

The NBC boss explained that digital broadcasting is planned in such a way that it would have and add output value for Nigerians as it would have a lot of channels for people to watch through a decoder like local ,regional and national channels and access to internet .

Mallam Madibo added that it would have an interactive box where government would be posting information and Nigerians would react pointing out that with such provision, no one would need to buy DVD since it contains videos and Nollywood films and others.

He maintained that it would also give a lot of young talented Nigerians opportunity to excel in broadcasting and other areas of life.

The NBC boss was accompanied on the visit by the Director General Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Mr Mansa Liman, a Director in NBC Professor Amstram Idashaba, another staff of NBC ,Mr Danjuma Kote and the Commission's Public Affairs Officer Mrs Maureen and the South East Zonal Director ,Mrs Susan Obi.

The delegation were received at the station by the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategies Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS Nze Uche Nworah and other members of ABS management.
