Cyril Ramaphosa Declared President Of South Africa, Confronts Woes Of Zuma Legacy

Cyril Ramaphosa has been declared the new president of South Africa after the sudden  resignation of Jacob Zuma.

Watch the video of his acceptance speech below:

The country's 400-member parliament, dominated by the ruling African National Congress party (ANC), elected Ramaphosa on Thursday to complete his predecessor Jacob Zuma's term, which ends with elections in 2019.

The ANC has always been on top at every national vote since the end of white-minority rule in 1994.
In December, 65-year-old Ramaphosa in a contest almost defeated Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma in the race to replace South African President.
The President elect was born in 1952 in Soweto, a suburb of  Johannesburg city center, and he studied  law at the University of the North at Turfloop.
