More than 15,000 individuals have been pursued from their homes by an early morning rainstorm, Monday, and a resultant surge that submerged more than 2,000 houses in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, and its nearby communities.
The surge, said to be the most exceedingly terrible after that of 2012 when River Benue breached its banks, additionally cleared away a huge number of Naira worth of property and resources in a deluge that kept going more than four hours.
The hardest hit territories are Achuasa Media Town, Wadata Rice Factory, Behind Police Zone Four, Larozone Nyiman Quarters, Judges Quarters, Gboko Street, Logo, New Bank Street, Abu, Shuluwa Street and the area of Radio Benue, where every one of the houses in the area, including the transmitter of the state-claimed radio station, were submerged.
