The members of the operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended four individuals from two extortion syndicates working in Ikeja, Maryland, Ojodu-Berger, Agege and Oshodi parts of the city.
The individuals from the syndicates, three male and a female were captured in two separate instances of extortion on Thursday and Saturday in Ikeja and Oshodi.
The first group, involving Chinasa Sunday, 44 and Osadebe Aigbe 30, were captured in Ikeja following a few days of being under the observation of RRS detectives for cheating a woman of the whole of N85,000.00.
Their casualty, Grace Enitan, had revealed at the RRS Headquarters that a syndicate of four men lifted her up in a taxi and tricked her of N85,000.00 while she was making a beeline for Ikeja.
Investigations uncovered that Chinasa Sunday and Osadebe Aigbe were engaged with the trick while their ring-pioneer, identified as Martin is on the run.
The victim In their confessional statement to the Decoy team of RRS headquarters after their arrest identified the two suspects and their respective roles in the trick.
Chinasa while pleading for mercy clarified that he joined the syndicate in the wake of losing his job in February, 2017. He clarified that they got the suspect in Olowopopo Way, Ikeja, adding that her part was to screen their victims while the trick endured.
The second syndicate individuals were captured yesterday after a fizzled offer to cheat a sustenance vender of over N120,000 and seize her of her adornments in Oshodi.
The victims, recognized as Rukayat Aderinwale was hailed and spellbound by a syndicate of five individuals previously confiscating her of a satchel containing N120,000.00 and her cell phone.
They were driving her away to another area when the woman recovered her cognizance and shouted to RRS officers positioned close-by.
The officer captured one Sunday Atanda, 56, living in 13, Pero Road, Agege and a 58 year old Fausat Tijani, an unadulterated water vender in Akala, Mushin, while three different individuals from the syndicate got away.
In his admission to the police, Atanda gave the names of other syndicate individuals as Kayode, Shina and Lateef. He included that the syndicate just worked out and about.
He focused on that what they needed to accomplish was to confiscate the mother of three of her cash, telephone and gem. He kept up that he joined the group to fund-raise to help his family.
He uncovered that the group worked in Agege and Oshodi, including that Lateef is their ring-pioneer and he directed when and where the syndicate would work each day.
Affirming the improvement, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole said that the command is revived to make Lagos uninhabitable for crooks.
He included that investigation will capture other syndicate individuals.
