OKPAI/Nigeria: The people of Okpai community in Ndokwa East the host community to AGIP Oil Company and managers of the largest gas plant in sub-Saharan Africa has demanded to be paid the sum of 50 million naira for the death of a Crocodile during the process of their operational activity in the area Information reaching the newsroom of Ndokwa Reporters said that the incident occurred on Friday, 18 of August, 2017. Our source further stated that the animal is a deity, and to cleanse the land.
It was gathered that the Crocodile which 2ft long was shot by soldiers were attached to the company, in a particular working area, in the community
According to the information, the community have to stop the activities of the company in the area the crocodile was killed, and demanded that for the work to continue it must to first be buried.
Series of negotiation was entered to calm the feelings of the community, but they insisted that the animal must be properly buried to avoid destructive consequences on the land.
After serious of negotiation, the company and community arrived at the sum of N50 million to be paid before the burial of the crocodile, which is presently at St. Lukes mortuary Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area awaiting the payment.
Meanwhile, the owner of the Mortuary had been summoned by the community leaders of Umusadege, to explain the why he allowed the killed crocodile in the mortuary.
