Command Operation Lafiya Dole, Colonel Clement Nwachukwu, affirmed the assault when reached by Stations TV through a telephone call.
Nwachukwu says troops have since been prepared to the territory.
"We are doing whatever we can to give satisfactory security through our proceeding with operations yet we encourage people in general to be greater security cognizant and know who their neighbors are," Nwachukwu expressed.
The assault happened three days after Boko Haram trapped oil laborers and staff of the University of Maiduguri, kidnapping some of them and killing a few others.
Around 30 regular citizens and more than 10 soldiers were apparently slaughtered in the trap.
On Friday, a video of three individuals who recognized themselves as workers of the University of Maiduguri and said they were a piece of those stole in the snare was discharged by Boko Haram.
