2019 Election: It is time for Igbo's Presidency-- Obasanjo

An elder statesman, and former Nigerian  Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has given his support for an Igbo person to become the next Nigeria's President.

He made this known on Tuesday in a visit paid to him by the leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria- CAN in Ogun State, during a special new year service organized in his honour. He however stressed  that it is his personal political point of view,  as reported by The Punch.

He further opined that it is high time that the  Ogun State next governor came from the Ogun West Senatorial District. That, he said would be very fair and just as it is the only district that has not produced a governor since 1976 when the state was created.

Chief Obasanjo said that justice and fairness has been his political goal for the nation.

“But, irrespective of the thinking of the people ahead of the 2019 ( elections ) , I personally think that the South -East should have a go at the Presidency too .

“ The same is happening here . If Ijebu and Egba have produced the governor , it is only fair and just to allow the Yewa or Ogun West to also produce a governor . Or else , one day, they will also stand up and take up arms against this injustice against them . That is my personal position on this . ” He said.
