Funke Akindele has dismissed reports circulating online that the director of her upcoming movie, The Four: No One Fights Alone, died in a road accident.
The rumour gained attention on social media after a post on X claimed that the popular actress and filmmaker had become emotional during an Instagram Live session following news of the alleged accident.
According to the post, the supposed incident happened while the director was travelling to Akindele’s residence. It further claimed that the filmmaker had spoken with the director shortly before the alleged accident and later visited a hospital after receiving news of the incident.
However, Akindele has rejected the report, making it clear that the information being circulated was false. Responding directly to the post on X, she criticised the person behind it and suggested that the claim was created simply to attract attention and engagement online.
The post also reportedly used an old video showing Akindele crying during a previous Instagram Live session, presenting the footage as though it were connected to the alleged incident.
The clarification comes shortly after Akindele announced The Four: No One Fights Alone, a new movie in which she serves as writer, director and producer.
The film is scheduled to arrive in Nigerian cinemas on December 11 and explores themes including friendship, motherhood, resilience and the strength of women.
The production features an impressive ensemble cast, including Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Wunmi Toriola, Waje, Ronke Oshodi Oke and Antar Laniyan.
The project is being produced through the Funke Akindele Network, with FilmOne Entertainment handling its theatrical distribution.
