Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodioke has opened up about a frightening health battle she endured, revealing just how costly her treatment became and crediting the people who stood by her during that difficult chapter.
Appearing on the entertainment program African A-List, the actress reflected on a period of serious illness that tested her both physically and financially.
She expressed deep gratitude to God for pulling her through, while also singling out Lagos transport union leader MC Oluomo and several of her colleagues in the industry for the support that helped her survive.
According to Oshodioke, the financial weight of her illness was staggering, as she reportedly needed to spend as much as 800,000 naira monthly just to cover the cost of her medication.
She stressed that without the intervention of people around her during that time, she isn't sure she would have made it through.
The actress also touched on a spiritual shift she experienced while unwell, revealing that her serious health scare was what led her to join the Celestial Church of Christ, popularly known as Cele.
She was quick to clarify, however, that adopting a new faith wasn't a rejection of other belief systems, noting that she holds no judgment toward those who practice different religions.
In a particularly emotional part of her narration, Oshodioke spoke about her strained relationship with fellow actress Sotayo, admitting the two had been estranged for roughly five to six years following an unresolved falling-out.
She described how their fractured relationship had gotten to the point where they would avoid acknowledging each other even at public events, choosing instead to walk past one another in silence.
Despite the long-standing rift between them, Oshodioke revealed that Sotayo's compassion outweighed their unresolved issues once news of her illness reached her.
Without hesitation, Sotayo sent her a sum of 150,000 naira to assist with her medical expenses, a gesture that clearly moved Oshodioke enough to publicly acknowledge it during her interview.
She made a point of noting that she doesn't casually drop names when discussing people who helped her, which made her decision to specifically mention Sotayo all the more significant.
Their years of silence, rooted in a minor disagreement rather than any major conflict, didn't stop Sotayo from reaching out in a moment of genuine need.
