Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked widespread discussion after sharing his views on the entertainment industry, describing it as an environment that often promotes self-glorification instead of spiritual values.
Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Joey Akan, the actor argued that fame and celebrity culture can easily distract entertainers from their relationship with God.
According to him, many people in the industry become consumed by public admiration, wealth and status, creating a lifestyle that places personal ambition above faith.
Jim explained that while entertainment itself is not inherently wrong, the structure surrounding it often encourages individuals to seek validation from fame rather than spiritual fulfilment.
He suggested that many celebrities gradually begin to see themselves as more important than they truly are because of the constant praise they receive from fans.
Reflecting on his own journey, the actor admitted that he once enjoyed the attention that accompanied his success in Nollywood.
He recalled moments when fans treated him with extraordinary admiration, saying he eventually realised that such experiences could foster pride and create the false impression that a person is above others.
According to Jim, his renewed commitment to God helped him understand that genuine fulfilment comes from humility rather than public recognition. He encouraged entertainers to remain spiritually grounded and avoid allowing success to define their identity.
The actor also spoke about the role of creativity, describing it as a gift that should be used responsibly. He maintained that creative talents can have a positive influence when directed toward meaningful purposes instead of being driven solely by personal gain or the pursuit of fame.
Beyond discussing spirituality, Jim addressed the long-running debate surrounding the phrase "school is a scam." He clarified that he does not believe formal education is without value, but argued that academic qualifications alone do not guarantee financial success or personal fulfilment.

The encounter, he said, prompted him to reflect on the different paths people take in life and reinforced his belief that success can come through practical experience, mentorship and continuous self-development alongside classroom learning.
