Operatives from the Bayelsa State Police Command’s SWAT unit have taken into custody a pastor from Delta State, Elijah Oro, over accusations of planning to eliminate a fellow prophet within Bayelsa.
Authorities revealed that Pastor Oro allegedly engaged 21-year-old Samuel Daniel, reportedly affiliated with the Greenlanders cult, to execute the intended attack. The conflict is said to have stemmed from disagreements concerning church membership and property ownership.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Musa Mohammed confirmed the arrests and stated the suspects are being investigated. The identity of the targeted prophet has not been disclosed.
DSP Mohammed said, “On 28th January 2026, at about 1035 hours, SWAT operatives arrested Samuel Daniel, 21, of Nembe Ogbolomabiri Community, and Pastor Elijah Oro, 59, of Ozoro Community, Delta State, in connection with an alleged plot to kill a prophet.”
He further explained that Samuel Daniel was intercepted at the prophet’s premises, admitting his involvement with the Greenlanders cult and his alleged role in Pastor Oro’s plan. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive behind the purported assassination plot.
