The 68th Annual Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, February 1, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with South African comedian Trevor Noah returning to host the ceremony for a sixth consecutive year. The evening celebrated music across genres, highlighting both global superstars and emerging talents while spotlighting African music on the world stage.


The night opened on a high note with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande winning Best Pop/Duo Group Performance for their rendition of Defying Gravity. Kehlani also achieved a major milestone, taking home her first Grammys in both Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for Folded.


In the Best African Music Performance category, South African singer Tyla emerged victorious with her hit Push 2 Start, beating out Nigerian heavyweights Davido, Ayra Starr, and Burna Boy. Her win underscores the growing recognition of African music on the global stage.


American music icons dominated several categories as well. Kendrick Lamar had a standout night, taking home multiple awards including Best Rap Song for tv off (with Lefty Gunplay) and Best Melodic Rap Performance alongside SZA for luther. Pop superstar Lady Gaga also added to her Grammy haul with Best Dance Pop Recording for Abracadabra.

Other notable winners included Chris Stapleton, Mavis Staples, Buddy Guy, Shaboozey & Jelly Roll, Laufey, Jon Batiste, and Natalia Lafourcade. The ceremony also honoured achievements in Latin, jazz, blues, Americana, Christian, and video game music categories, reflecting the Grammys’ commitment to celebrating a wide spectrum of musical artistry.
