Nollywood comedian Olatayo Amokade, widely known as Ijebu, has appealed to Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisi, to end the ongoing social media dispute with her mother following her ₦150 million reality-show victory.
In a video posted on his Instagram page on Sunday evening, Ijebu addressed the reality star directly, urging her to mend the strained relationship.
The conflict surfaced publicly shortly after Imisi received her prize money. During her time on BBNaija, Imisi had shared harrowing details of her childhood, including having an abortion at 13 after suffering two instances of sexual abuse at age 12. She also recalled being sent out of her father’s house at 11, selling fufu with her grandmother, and later losing her grandmother’s home to a fire.
Weeks after her win, Imisi’s mother appeared in a viral video claiming she had been abandoned. Responding to the accusation, Imisi questioned why the concerns emerged only after her victory, stressing that she had supported her mother consistently.
“Before I won BBNaija, I was living my life and you wouldn’t even check on me for a year or two. Why is this a problem now?” she said. She further noted, “I still sent money to you last week and four days ago. I have people in my family depending on me; the prize money isn’t for anyone’s comfort alone.”
Weighing in on the controversy, Ijebu urged Imisi to prioritize reconciliation despite past grievances, describing a mother as a “mini god” in a child’s life.
“Imisi, I know you are a good girl. The Bible teaches us to honour our parents. Tonight or tomorrow morning, I want you to visit your mother, kneel before her, apologize, and let her pray for you. Regardless of the past, she is still your mini god on earth. After this, I don’t want to see any more online conflicts. If I do, I’ll be very upset,” he said.
The comedian’s intervention has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many urging both parties to settle the dispute privately.
